Take a good look at that ugly chair you have sitting in your dining room. Maybe you have 4 ugly chairs that looked great back in the 1970's.  Now the whole polka dot theme isn't looking so hot is it?  So what should you do? Throw perfectly good wooden chairs out and buy new ones – I don't think so let's reupholster them using a upholstery stapler

Take a few moments to think about what you would like to make those fine looking chairs into something more aesthetically

pleasing. Porter upholstery stapler one of the best on the market today! Now that you've got a good idea of the design elements you want for your new chairs you are going to need a few tools and a little patience. The first thing you will need to get is the fabric.  Choose something that makes you happy but not your guests puke – remember this is what got you in trouble 30 years ago!  Next up you'll need an upholstery stapler and this is where it gets a little tricky.  You see there are 2 main types of upholstery staplers as I describe below:

  1. Electric – This upholstery stapler runs, as the name intimates, off of electricity only and, while providing a basic job good for a beginner, is not going to have the sheer power needed to fix a whole sofa.
  2. Pneumatic – This upholstery stapler runs off of a compressed air system and is going to need a relatively strong air compressor.  Choose an air compressor pushing out at least 90lb of pressure to make sure your pneumatic upholstery stapler can do it's job.

Once you've selected the tool it should now be as simple as removing the old fabric and ditching it (or burning it depending on your mood!), stretching the new fabric over the chair and stapling it in place.  Make sure you use a fine wire 7 series staple as this will use the least amount of fabric producing a nice clean look. The last step is impress your friends with your newly reupholstered furniture thanks to your upholstery stapler and hard work!
